THIS QUIZ WILL ONLY RUN CORRECTLY USING NETSCAPE VERSION 4 AT THIS TIME
I will be endeavouring
to write an online version of the ITV(UK)
trivia quiz "Who wants to be a Millionaire"
Hopefully when finished it will produce a playable copy of the TV version (without the cash of course) This site is being set up so that I can gain a better understanding of Javascript techniques, it uses various scripts that have either been written or modified by me to fit the application. the quiz is an online version of the one we can see on our TV screens at the moment (in the UK) hosted by Chris Tarrant and shown on the ITV network (currently the most watched TV program in the UK with audience viewing figures of 20 million) where the objective is to answer 15 questions in a row with the aim of winning £1000,000.00. The quiz works like this each question you answer roughly doubles your cash winnings e.g £100 for the first and £200 for the second question ect. Until your cash total reaches £1000 you win nothing if you answer a question incorrectly, after the £1000 mark you lose the difference. e.g your playing for £4000 (so you have £2000) and get it wrong you leave with £1000 losing £1000 and so on up to £32,000 which is your next and last guaranteed cash sum. e.g you have £125,000 and answer the £250,000 question wrong you drop back to £32,000 losing £93,000.So Far the largest sum won on the show is £125,000. In the TV version each contestant has three lifelines to help them when in difficulty, they can only use these once. The lifelines are: 50:50 in which two of the wrong answers are removed leaving one wrong and one correct answer. Phone a Friend where the contestant phones a friend and has 30 seconds to tell them the question and 4 possible answers, and try to get an answer Ask the Audience in which the studio audience take part by giving their answer to the question on keypads which are diplayed as a percentage figure of approval for each of the four answers allowing the contestant to choose which to go with or not. At each point the contestant has the opportunity to look at each question and four possible answers and decide wether to play or leave with the money they have already won. The same principles apply to this Unofficial online version although for technical reasons the lifelines vary slightly |
